Live Event Guest Portrait Painting
Your Celebration. Their Keepsake. Everyone’s Favorite Memory.
How It Works
A smooth, guest -friendly experience from setup to keepsake
Before the Celebration
My assistant and I arrive approximately one hour before the ceremony to set up
We need one table, a tablecloth, and two chairs. Most venues can provide these
I bring my own table lamp, so lighting at the portrait station is never an issue
The station may be placed wherever is convenient, but I request a location away from loudspeakers and the dance floor to prevent accidental bumps or water spills near the artwork
During the Cocktail Hour or Reception
My assistant photographs guests as they visit the portrait table
I paint through the guest photos continuously during the contracted hours
Many guests will receive their finished custom portraits to take home that evening- however, due to timing restrictions and quality of work, possibility that not all guest portraits will be finished during the event
Timing and Expectations
One guest takes about 5 minutes to draw and paint, two guests take about 10 minutes
Please allow for transition time between each guest or drawing
During a 5 hour event, I can typically complete about 45-50 guest portriats
These timing estimations are consistent with industry standard
Payment
25% of total fee for selected package must be paid in order to reserve and schedule event’s date. Remainder of the selected package fee must be paid by the date of the event - early payments are accepted.
Live Portrait Event Packages
Every package includes original portraits, hand-drawn in pencil and painted in watercolor
All portraits are painted on watercolor paper and individually wrapped in a protective sleeve to preserve the medium and protect the portrait (Because spills happen!) Sizing choices are offered with each package

Travel
-
Absolutely! I’m happy to travel for weddings and events. I’m based just outside of Jackson, Mississippi and all travel distances are calculated from my home base.
-
Travel fees are based on the distance to your event (not there and back) and will always be discussed and agreed upon prior to booking.
For Tier I, the first hour is complimentary.
For Tiers II, III, and IV the first two hours of travel are complimentary.
Any additional travel time is $50 per hour.
For events located more than six hours away by car (12 hour total drive time there and back), my assistant and I require air travel. Airfare is the responsibility of the hiring party. Flight arrangements, including preferred flight times and airline options, will be discussed with you in advance.
-
For events located more than four hours away (8 hour total there and back) additional fee of $200 for overnight accommodations are required.
* if the event is located on the Alabama Gulf Coast or surrounding areas, the hotel fee is waived as accommodations are not needed at this location
-
No hidden fees! Any applicable travel, airfare, or lodging expenses will be discussed with you ahead of time, so you’ll know exactly what to expect before your event.

Hi!
My name is Carolyn Lohman. I am a painter and illustrator.
When I’m not up to my elbows in art, I am a pediatric nurse practitioner. One of my favorite things is when I get to the incorporate the two, whether that be illustrating an anatomical coloring sheet or creating a tee-shirt design for the hospital.
My portfolio has a variety of art with mediums ranging from acrylic to watercolor to simple pen and ink.
I am always open to creative endeavors so don’t hesitate to reach out if there is a project you want to explore or an event you are trying to incorporate art into.
Custom Artwork
